Margaret T. Slattery, age 93, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. She was born on June 19, 1917 in Sun Prairie and was the daughter of Mathias and Barbara (Bartosch) Skalitzky. She married Norman Slattery in September of 1936 in Milwaukee.
Margaret was a member of the Gold Star Wives, American Legion Post #333 Auxillary, St. Ann’s Alter Society and The Colonial Club. She worked for the Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation and retired in 1982.
She is survived by her 7 children, Charles (Shirley) of Rochester Hills, MI, Kenneth (Mary) of Madison, Eugene (Barbara) of Balwin, Mo, Thomas (Anne) of Sun Prairie, Barbara (Ken Hensen) of Fredricksburg, VA, Judy (Oscar) Rortvedt and Colleen Slattery both of Sun Prairie; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Fredrickson of South Milwaukee
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman in 1970; brothers, Father Leo, Earl, Paul; sisters, Catherine Saklitzky, Agnes Bedner and Mary Seamans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie with Father Brian Dulli presiding. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Catholic School Endowment or The Sunshine Place Food Bank.
