Dr. Joseph Syty, age 84, passed away on November 26, 2016. He was born to Russian immigrants Alex and Mary (Shostek) Syty on January 22, 1932 in Racine County. He married Donna Hoke on August 8, 1964, in Viola.

Dr. Syty graduated from Rochester High School. He attended UW extension in Racine for 2 years and graduated from the UW and UW Medical School in 1959. He interned at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. He practiced for 4 years at Hirsch Clinic in Viroqua before relocating to Sun Prairie where he practiced with Dr. E. J. Nelson and later with Sun Prairie Dean Family Practice. He retired in 1994.

Joseph is survived by his wife Donna; 3 Daughters, Tania (Wayne) Purdy, Andrea Omeja and Natalie Syty; a beloved grandson Jackson Omeja; and bonus daughter Jill Herreman Myers (Michael) her sons Alex and Nicholas Klusmeyer and their father Toby Klusmeyer; 1 sister, Jenny Spencer; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Syty, Beth (Bill) Pedersen, Dianne (Donald) Ray; and brother-in-law, Gary (Roxanne) Hoke and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Alex and his wife Evelyn, Wallace; sister Sue Topinka; brothers-in-law Dean Topinka and Lee Spenser Sr.; a niece, Kristine S. Schoeneck.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, 702 North St. in Sun Prairie, Pastor Jenny Arneson will preside. A visitation will take place at 2 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Sunday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the United Methodist Scholarship Fund or Benevolent Specialist Project in Middleton.
