Janet Elizabeth (Hansen) Weisensel, age 58, entered her eternal home on Sunday, August 27, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by a large loving family. Janet was born May 2, 1959 in Chicago to Ralph and Elizabeth Hansen. She graduated from Hammond Indiana High School in 1977 and attended Indiana University and Concordia University.
Janet's greatest passion was her family, especially her children. Her outspoken honesty and self-assured personality endeared her to her husband. Her adventuresome spirit and fun-loving nature endeared her to everyone. Her sensitivity and caring heart made her successful in her many careers. Jan's leisure time revolved around her love for cooking and the great outdoors; fishing, hunting and gardening. The holidays were always festive as she loved to decorate, especially for Christmas.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel J. Weisensel of Sun Prairie: children D.J. and Bailey Chapelle; step-children; and grandchildren; her mother Elizabeth Hansen of Lake Forest, IL; brothers, Ralph (Joyce), Steve (Lynda), Jim, and Damian; her sister Susan Handlin (Douglas); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Ralph Howard Hansen Sr.; her brothers William Robert Sr. and Paul Allen; and sister-in-law Nicki Hansen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Bristol, Father Alex Carmel will preside. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, and from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass Thursday at the Church.
Jan's family would like to extend a thank you for all the support from friends and family especially Susan Handlin.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1935 County Rd. V, Sun Prairie, 53590.
